I'm from Michigan originally, am a proud Spartan. My research focuses on translational ecology, using field studies, geospatial analyses, ecological modeling, and genetic techniques to facilitate natural resource management and habitat and species conservation in the face of climate and land use change. My current projects include identifying climate change refugia, revealing mechanistic drivers of climate change, studying the effects of warming temperatures and changing snow patterns on montane and Arctic communities, exploring the effects of climate change on the culture and ecology of sugar maple, and developing decision analysis tools for climate adaptation. I have also worked for the U.S. Forest Service and collaborated on research throughout Africa.
