ABSTRACT: Conflict between humans and wildlife has been increasing dramatically in China in recent years. From July 2012 to October 2014, we managed the conflict using Amur tiger (Panthera tigris altaica) feces and voice playbacks to displace wild boars (Sus scrofa) around Hunchun area, Jilin Province, China. Results showed: (1) Compared with control farms, treatment with Amur tiger feces had a positive effect on controlling damage caused by wild boar; (2) Compared with control farms, playbacks of Amur tigers had a positive effect on controlling damage caused by wild boars; (3) Compared with control farms, Amur tiger’s feces together with playbacks had a positive effect on controlling damage. Amur tiger feces and voice have significantly positive effects on controlling damage caused by wild boar because Amur tiger is the natural predator of wild boar and is found around the Hunchun area, Jilin Province. Reaction to predator cues could be exploited by managers and farmers to address damage causes by wild boars.
